PAUL GREENE

Over the past few years Paul Greene has been given the thumbs up by John Butler, The Waifs & Ani DiFranco, hi-jacked by Midnight Oil’s Rob Hirst and served as the inspiration behind Ben Harper’s ‘Diamonds On The Inside’. He has sold nearly 30,000 albums; however, you won’t see his name on any charts, as Greene has taken a staunchly independent path which has led him on a journey through countless festivals, bar rooms and concert halls across Australia. |

Doors: 6:30pm

For Berkeley, CA-based Mike Silverman, better known by his alter ego That 1 Guy, when it comes to making music, necessity is the mother of invention. A classically trained upright bassist who won several jazz scholarships and competitions, Mike became one of the most original and in-demand upright bass players in the 90's progressive jazz scene. At the peak of his powers, Mike was developing and utilizing techniques that were previously thought impossible on the upright bass. Often getting hired as a one-man-rhythm-section, he would function as a bassist, drummer, and entire mini orchestra simultaneously. |

Music Feeds Tour Featuring 3 Bands…KILLED TWO BIRDS, CAPTAIN KICK ARSE & THE AWESOMES, and SICK BOY
Free entry
Starts 8:30pm

Captain Kickarse and the Awesomes - Captain Kickarse and the Awesomes have been joined in a musical union for a sum near 915 days, locked in a schedule tight-as-fuck, gladly leaving no time for golf. The Captain play rock. Now. Always. After the revelation that in fact 5 = 8 (shpadoingle!) the captain himself took to the sea. Amongst seas most high he chanced upon a wise old soul, Omega Decadent Deckhand. He showed the true potential of a cape-clad existence. Since then it has been all psychedelic progressive blues-twanged rock all the time. Now. Always.

Killed Two Birds - In today's indie scene there is so much potential for great collaboration. So many bands share shows, rehearsal spaces and at times, even CD's. So why is it rare we see indie supergroups? I don't know the answer to that, but I do of a band who has done it. Killed Two Birds is a fusion of members from Seclusion and Phil, Alex and Hugh from Captain Kickarse & The Awesomes. The songs are washed out, airy folk-rock jams, "They're just two minute folk songs turned into ten minute mayhem when the Captain guys get behind it." It's the sort of music you could sit down with your mum and have a cup of tea to, yet at the same time dance the soles of your shoes to dust watching it live.

Sickboy - Sickboy is a garage folk/punk trio that plays original, overdriven music with passion and poetry. Sickboy was formed by singer/guitarist Mark Spence in 2001 in Atlanta, where they left behind a quickly forgotten legacy of kicking around, playing nearly every venue in town, replacing drummers, never getting a gig in Athens, getting nowhere, releasing singles, shouting at the top of their lungs, releasing an EP, and always writing new material. After Mark got tired of 5 years of beating his head against a wall, he untangled himself from the kudzu and wound up in Australia in January of 2006, where he started putting a new trio together, and that has made all the difference in the world. Touring behind the previous EP, VANITY & VELOCITY, took them to most of the major cities around Oz, and now their latest offering, WATER NEVER WAITS, should keep them going for a while longer. Sickboy is a band that wants everything, expects nothing, and is getting close to both. |
FRIDAY 16th
THE BAKERY

The Bakery are an 11 piece party extravaganza, an explosion of sound, colour and madness. A Bakery gig isn’t just a gig, it’s a spectacle; a wild, ass-shaking celebration. It’s a party and you’re invited. The huge horn section blasts you with ska joy, the super tight rhythm section lays down the funk attitude, and the two lead singers take you to heaven and back with their angelic harmonies. The Bakery experience is a must for festival fanatics young and old. Their blend of ‘Neo-orgasmic-funk-party-core’ never fails to get a crowd moving. The Bakery are not to be missed. |
SATURDAY 17th
JUMBLEDAT

When a group of friends got together in 2005 to perform some of their original material, headlining Katoomba’s Winter Magic Festival, they brought with them a mix of musical influences so diverse many wondered how this combination could possibly work. But it did. Within the year Jumbledat was a household name across the Blue Mountains, where the band’s appearances at Triselies Nightclub became highly anticipated sell-out concerts. With the release of their self-titled EP (recorded & mixed by Hermitude’s El Gusto) Jumbledat’s infectious on-stage enthusiasm, inspiring lyrics and eclectic sound of hip hop, jazz, Latin and funk, quickly attracted crowds at numerous venues in Sydney and Canberra, including the Macquarie Hotel, Transit Bar and Oxford Arts Factory, as well as an unforgettable performance bringing elated fans into 2008 at last year’s High and Dry Festival. |
SUNDAY 18th
